Standard Chartered Bank named ‘Gold Sponsor’ for Banking sector centenary
Bahrain Association of Banks announced that Standard Chartered Bank participate as a Gold sponsor for the 100th anniversary celebration of Bahrain’s banking sector, the celebration that marks the establishment of this bank in 1920 as the first bank in Bahrain.
Bahrain Association of Banks (BAB) said previously that the celebration will be held on December 11 under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa following several events, publications and meetings.
BAB confirmed Standard chartered Bank gold sponsorship of the 100-anniversary celebration and the annual Bahraini Banks reception celebration, which will be organized by the association and held in Washington, DC to coincide with the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund scheduled from 18-20 October 2019.
BAB chief executive Dr. Waheed AL Qassim said: “We are delighted to welcome Standard chartered Bank as a Gold Sponsor which reflects banking institutions’ keenness to achieve sustainable growth, boost the sector and set leadership standards,”

Standard Chartered Bank CEO Mr. Abdulla Bukhowa praised BAB’s efforts in highlighting locally, regionally and globally the prominent position of the Bahrain banking sector, and Bahrain’s advanced environment in the field of legislation and banking services in general.
It is an honor for Standard Chartered Bank to be a leading supporter of BAB’s celebration of the centenary of the banking sector, that is based on the history of the Bank’s establishment in Bahrain a century ago.
